CNIC Information Pakistan — Check CNIC Online, Verify by CNIC Number & NADRA Services 2026
The most complete CNIC information guide in Pakistan — how to check CNIC online, verify ID card by CNIC number via SMS 7000, track your application, view NADRA fees, fix your family tree record, reprint a lost CNIC, and confirm if your CNIC is blocked. Fully updated for NADRA’s February 2026 reform (QR codes, lifetime CNIC for seniors, iris-scan recognition), the new e-Sahulat CNIC reprint/renewal pilot (July 9, 2026), the July 2026 fake-CNIC arrests in Chakwal, NADRA’s denial of dark-web data leak claims, and the ongoing mass CNIC verification notices affecting 1,152+ citizens.
- 1To verify any CNIC number: send the 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) as SMS to 7000 → reply includes name, father’s/husband’s name, and validity status → ~Rs.10 + tax → seconds
- 2To check CNIC online for your own full record: download NADRA’s official Pak Identity app or visit id.nadra.gov.pk → login with mobile + OTP or biometric → free
- 3To track a new CNIC application: send your Tracking ID (not your CNIC number) as SMS to 8400 → returns live processing status
- 4To check if a CNIC is blocked or suspicious: verify via 7000 first — a blocked CNIC returns “invalid/blocked” status — then visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center with original documents
1. e-Sahulat CNIC Pilot (July 9, 2026): NADRA has launched a pilot project allowing CNIC reprint (lost card) and CNIC renewal (expired card) at 18 designated e-Sahulat franchises in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi — bringing basic CNIC services closer to citizens outside formal NADRA centers.
2. Data Leak Denial (July 2, 2026): NADRA has rejected viral social media claims that CNIC numbers, photographs, and biometric data were leaked and sold on the dark web, confirming after investigation with NCERT and NTISB that no system breach occurred.
3. Fake CNIC Arrests (July 8, 2026): FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle arrested three NADRA officials in Chakwal over an alleged fraudulent CNIC issued to an Afghan national, who is already in custody at Adiala Jail.
4. Mass Verification Notices: NADRA issued notices to 1,152 suspected CNIC holders nationwide (874 in Peshawar alone) requiring them to appear before a NADRA board within two weeks with identity documents — failure risks CNIC blocking and further legal action.

Searching for CNIC information? Whether you want to check CNIC online, verify ID card by CNIC number, track a new application, or simply understand what your 13-digit CNIC number controls, this guide covers all of it in one place. The Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is Pakistan’s primary legal identity document, issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) under Sections 9 and 10 of the NADRA Ordinance, 2000. As of NADRA’s most recent published figures (31 May 2026), the total accumulative NADRA and CRMS-registered population stands at 252,701,592, of which 132,478,456 are male. NADRA’s own 2025 Annual Report analysis — conducted with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the Election Commission of Pakistan, and other national bodies — found that 98.3% of Pakistan’s adult population is now registered in the national identity system, leaving a documentation gap of roughly 1.7%, concentrated among women and in districts with weaker civil registration coverage.
CNIC information refers to everything tied to this 13-digit identity number: your full legal name, father’s or husband’s name, date of birth, gender, current and permanent address, photograph, family link/tree data, and — critically — every service linked to it, including SIM registrations, bank accounts, tax records, and government benefit programs. This guide covers every official way to check CNIC online or by SMS, CNIC number verification, NADRA’s 2026 fee structure, how to fix your NADRA family tree record, what to do about a lost or blocked CNIC, and how to protect your identity from the fraud patterns making headlines this year.
2026 has been an eventful year for NADRA and CNIC policy: first-time CNIC issuance became free of cost, a major regulatory reform in February introduced QR-code verification and lifetime CNICs for seniors, a new e-Sahulat pilot now offers CNIC reprint and renewal outside formal NADRA centers, ongoing enforcement actions include real arrests of NADRA staff for fraudulent issuance, and NADRA has had to publicly and repeatedly deny viral claims of a citizen data leak. Understanding all of this — not just the basic “how to check my CNIC” steps — is what separates informed citizens from those caught off guard.

CNIC Verification — Quick Reference Codes
Here are all official NADRA SMS shortcodes and digital channels relevant to CNIC information — know which one does what before you use any of them:
5 Official Ways to Check CNIC Online & Verify by CNIC Number
Every method described here is officially operated by NADRA. Third-party sites offering “CNIC lookup with photo” for anyone are not on this list — because they are not legitimate.
Method 1: SMS CNIC to 7000
NADRA’s “Citizen Reverification Service,” operated in partnership with PTA. Confirms whether a CNIC is valid, active, and genuine, returning the holder’s name and father’s/husband’s name. This is the standard way to verify ID card by CNIC number.
- Open SMS app on any phone
- Type the 13-digit CNIC (no dashes)
- Send to 7000
- Reply in seconds: name, father’s/husband’s name, validity status
- Cost: approximately Rs.10 + tax
Method 2: Pak Identity (PakID) App
NADRA’s official mobile app — the most feature-rich way to check CNIC online and manage your own record. Apply, renew, reprint, and track applications, plus biometric login.
- Download Pak Identity from Google Play / App Store
- Create account or log in with mobile number + OTP
- Or use fingerprint/face ID biometric login
- View your own CNIC record, including photo
- Track applications, pay fees, request services — all free to use
Method 3: NADRA Official Portal / Pak Identity Portal
The most comprehensive way to view your own full CNIC information online, accessible from any browser — the go-to answer for “how to check CNIC online” searches.
- Visit id.nadra.gov.pk or nadra.gov.pk
- Register / log in, verify via OTP sent to registered mobile
- Go to “CNIC Services” → “CNIC Status” or “Verification”
- View full record: name, parentage, DOB, address, issue/expiry dates
- Free — no signup fee for basic verification
Method 4: NADRA Registration Center (NRC) Visit
The only method producing official printed/stamped documentation for legal, banking, or court purposes. Also required for corrections, biometric re-verification, and lifetime CNIC applications for seniors.
- Locate nearest NRC via nadra.gov.pk
- Bring original CNIC/B-Form and supporting documents
- Request the specific service — verification, correction, renewal
- Complete biometric confirmation (fingerprint or, per 2026 rules, iris scan)
- Receive official documentation or updated card
Method 5: e-Sahulat Franchise (Reprint & Renewal)
Launched July 9, 2026, this pilot lets citizens get a lost CNIC reprinted or an expired CNIC renewed at select e-Sahulat retail franchises — without visiting a full NRC office.
- Currently live at 18 franchises in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore & Karachi
- Bring your existing/lost CNIC details and a valid mobile number
- Complete biometric verification on-site
- Pay the applicable reprint/renewal fee
- Limited to reprint & renewal only — new applications still require an NRC
Primary CNIC Verification Code
CNIC → 7000
Send your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) to 7000. Reply includes name, father’s/husband’s name, and validity. ~Rs.10 + tax.
What Is Actually In Your CNIC Record?
| Field | Description | Who Can View It |
|---|---|---|
| Full Legal Name | As registered with NADRA | You (full) · Verifier (via 7000, limited) |
| Father’s/Husband’s Name | Family linkage record | You (full) · Verifier (via 7000) |
| 13-Digit CNIC Number | Unique identity key | You, and anyone you share it with |
| Date of Birth | Registered DOB | You only (via app/portal) |
| Gender | Registered gender | You only |
| Current & Permanent Address | Residential record | You only |
| Photograph | Digital ID photo | You only — never shown to third-party verifiers |
| Family Link / Family Tree Number | Connects to family tree record | You only |
| Biometric Data | Fingerprints; iris scan (2026 reform) | NADRA internal use only — never publicly shown |
| Card Status | Valid / Blocked / Expired | You + basic verifier check (via 7000) |
🚨 What Verification Services Do NOT Show
NADRA’s public-facing verification (SMS 7000, or any legitimate third-party Verisys integration) provides only a validity check — confirming a CNIC is active and returning the name/father’s name for basic identity confirmation. It does not show the holder’s photo, date of birth, full address, or biometric data to anyone other than the CNIC holder themselves, logged into their own account. Never trust any third-party website offering “check CNIC details with photo” for someone else’s ID — this is identity theft territory and is explicitly illegal.
NADRA CNIC Fees 2026 — Complete Table
One of the most searched CNIC information queries is simply: “how much does a CNIC cost?” The answer changed meaningfully in 2026. Here is the complete, current fee breakdown for new applications, renewals, and Smart CNIC upgrades.
| Service | Normal | Urgent | Executive |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-Time CNIC (18 years, non-smart) | Free — 15 days | Rs. 1,150 — 12 days | Rs. 2,150 — 6 days |
| CNIC Renewal | Rs. 750 — 30 days | Rs. 1,500 — 20 days | Rs. 2,500 — 10 days |
| Smart CNIC (SNIC) Renewal | Rs. 1,000 — 30 days | Rs. 2,000 — 20 days | Rs. 3,000+ — 10 days |
| Modification / Correction | Varies by field | Varies | Varies |
| e-Sahulat Reprint/Renewal (pilot) | Standard applicable fee — cash payment on-site | — | |
💰 First-Time CNIC Is Now Free
As of 2026, Pakistani citizens applying for their very first CNIC (turning 18) can obtain the standard non-smart-chip card at zero cost in the Normal category, with delivery in about 15 days. Opting for Smart CNIC still carries the standard Smart CNIC surcharge. Urgent and Executive categories remain paid for faster processing.
Your CNIC is valid for 10 years from the date of issue, and you can renew it up to one year before expiry — so a CNIC showing a 2025 or early-2026 expiry date can still be renewed normally today, with no late fee charged on an expired card.
e-Sahulat CNIC Reprint & Renewal Pilot — What It Means for You
On July 9, 2026, NADRA launched a pilot project extending basic CNIC services through selected e-Sahulat franchises — the same retail network Pakistanis already use for bill payments and mobile top-ups. Under this pilot, two specific services are now available outside formal NADRA Registration Centers:
- Reprinting a lost CNIC — for citizens whose physical card was misplaced, stolen, or damaged
- Renewing an expired CNIC — for citizens whose 10-year validity has lapsed
The pilot phase currently covers 18 franchises located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. NADRA officials describe this as a step toward improving public access to routine CNIC services without requiring a trip to a dedicated NRC office. New first-time applications, modifications, and NICOP/POC services are not yet covered under this pilot and still require a standard NADRA Registration Center visit.
📍 Is e-Sahulat CNIC Service Available in My City?
As of this update, the pilot is limited to the four cities listed above. If you are outside Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, or Karachi, continue using your nearest NRC or the Pak Identity app/portal for reprint and renewal requests. Check nadra.gov.pk for the current list of participating e-Sahulat franchises, as NADRA is expected to expand this pilot to more cities over time.
NADRA’s February 2026 CNIC Reform — Complete Breakdown
On 24 February 2026, the Government of Pakistan notified two major amendments — S.R.O. 330(I)/2026 and S.R.O. 331(I)/2026 — under Section 44 of the NADRA Ordinance, 2000, published in the official Gazette of Pakistan. This is the most significant structural change to Pakistan’s identity document framework in years.
What Changed
QR-Code Verification — Now Legally Recognized
QR codes are formally recognized as an official security and verification feature on identity documents, enabling secure, machine-readable authentication both offline and online. The amendments allow QR codes or other future technologies to be used alongside or instead of the existing microchip — meaning NADRA can adopt new verification tech without repeatedly amending the rules.
Lifetime CNIC for Senior Citizens (60+)
Resident and non-resident Pakistani citizens aged 60 or older are now eligible for a CNIC with lifetime validity, marked with a distinct senior citizen logo — removing the burden of periodic renewal for elderly citizens.
Expanded Biometric Recognition — Iris Scans Formalized
The rules now explicitly recognize fingerprints and iris scans as part of NADRA’s multi-modal biometric framework, strengthening identity assurance and fraud prevention beyond fingerprint-only verification.
Updated Card Formats Across All Document Types
New formats now apply to CNIC, NICOP, CRC, and related documents — including cards for overseas Pakistanis, children, persons with disabilities, and organ donors. AJK residents’ CNICs now carry a standardized “Resident of Azad Jammu and Kashmir” inscription for consistent geographic identification.
Existing CNICs Remain Valid
Importantly, none of these changes invalidate cards already issued — existing CNICs remain valid under the new framework, and citizens are not required to rush out for replacements.
📋 Does the QR Code Mean My Data Is Now Public?
No. QR codes support secure verification only through authorized systems. CNIC data, photographs, and biometrics remain protected under Pakistan’s privacy and cybercrime laws (including PECA 2016) and are not made publicly accessible by the QR feature. The QR code simply provides a faster, tamper-resistant way for authorized verifiers to confirm authenticity — it is not a public data-lookup mechanism.
First-Time CNIC Without a Birth Certificate — Facilitation Until December 2026
Separately from the February reform, NADRA introduced a time-bound facilitation allowing first-time applicants to obtain a CNIC without a Local Government-issued computerized birth certificate, valid until 31 December 2026. This follows NADRA’s own ten-year registration analysis (prepared for its Annual Report 2025, in coordination with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Election Commission of Pakistan, National Commission on the Status of Women, and other bodies) which found the documentation gap — concentrated among women and in districts with weak civil registration — was a key barrier for the remaining 1.7% of unregistered adults.
Conditions for This Facilitation
- Strict verification requirements and biometric confirmation of registered immediate family members still apply
- Married women 18+: Local Government-issued Nikah Nama, valid CNIC/NICOP of either parent, valid CNIC/NICOP of husband, plus biometric verification of one parent and the husband
- Unmarried women 18+: Valid CNIC/NICOP of either parent and biometric verification of one parent (husband-related condition does not apply)
- This facilitation was directed by the federal interior minister and approved by the NADRA Authority Board
NADRA Family Tree & Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
Your CNIC does not exist in isolation — it is linked to a NADRA Family Tree, the digital record connecting you to your parents, spouse, and children within NADRA’s database. This family link is what NADRA uses to verify relationships for services like passport applications, inheritance matters, visa sponsorships, and school admissions. Errors in this record — a missing child, a deceased family member still listed as a dependent, or a mismatched spouse entry — can cause downstream problems across multiple government and private services.
What Is a Family Registration Certificate (FRC)?
The FRC is an official NADRA-issued document listing all registered family members under a specific head of family, along with their CNIC numbers and relationships. It is commonly required for passport applications (especially for children), domicile certificates, school/college admissions, inheritance and succession cases, and visa applications for several countries.
How to Check or Correct Your Family Tree Record
- Log in to the Pak Identity app or id.nadra.gov.pk portal to view your current family tree as recorded by NADRA
- If you find an error (missing member, wrong relationship, deceased person not updated), visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center
- Bring supporting documents: birth certificates, Nikah Nama, death certificate (if applicable), and CNICs of the family members involved
- Submit a Family Tree correction/update request at the counter
- Complete biometric verification where required
- Request a printed FRC once your record is updated, if needed for an application
👨👩👧 Why Family Tree Accuracy Matters
An outdated or incorrect NADRA family tree is one of the most common reasons passport and visa applications get delayed or rejected. If you are planning a passport application, especially for a child or newly married spouse, verify your family tree record first — before, not after, you apply.
Lost or Stolen CNIC — How to Get It Reprinted
Losing your CNIC is stressful, but the reprint process is straightforward. Since your CNIC underpins your SIM registrations, bank accounts, and government records, act quickly to avoid a window where your identity details could be misused.
Steps to Reprint a Lost CNIC
- File an FIR or report at your nearest police station documenting the loss (recommended, especially if theft is suspected)
- Visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center, or — if you are in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, or Karachi — an e-Sahulat franchise participating in the July 2026 reprint pilot
- Provide your CNIC number (if remembered) or basic identity details for lookup
- Complete biometric verification (fingerprint or iris scan)
- Pay the applicable reprint fee based on Normal/Urgent/Executive processing
- Collect your reprinted CNIC within the selected processing timeframe
🚨 Protect Yourself While Your CNIC Is Lost
Between losing your CNIC and receiving a reprint, monitor your bank accounts and mobile wallets for unusual activity, and check whether any new SIM has been registered against your CNIC using PTA’s 668 code. A lost physical CNIC (as opposed to a data breach) is a low but non-zero fraud risk if it falls into the wrong hands.
Blocked, Suspicious, or Invalid CNIC — Status Check & Next Steps
A growing number of CNIC information searches are from citizens asking: “how do I check if my CNIC is blocked?” This usually happens for one of a few reasons — expiry, a pending correction case, involvement in NADRA’s ongoing verification drives, or in rare cases, suspected fraudulent issuance.
How to Check Your CNIC Status
- Send your 13-digit CNIC to 7000 — a blocked or invalid card will return a non-valid status instead of your name and validity confirmation
- Log in to the Pak Identity app or id.nadra.gov.pk portal to see your account status directly
- Call NADRA’s 24/7 helpline, 051-111-786-100, and provide your CNIC number for a status check
- Visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center if the SMS or app shows an unclear or blocked status
Common Reasons a CNIC Gets Blocked
| Reason | What To Do |
|---|---|
| Card expired more than a grace period ago | Apply for renewal via NRC, app, portal, or e-Sahulat pilot city |
| Selected in a verification/scrutiny drive | Appear before the NADRA board within the notice deadline with documents |
| Reported lost/stolen and flagged | Complete the reprint process to reactivate your identity record |
| Suspected duplicate or fraudulent registration | Visit NRC in person; may require legal/documentary proof of identity |
| Pending correction case unresolved | Follow up at the NRC where the correction request was filed |
Real 2026 Fraud & Enforcement Cases — Why CNIC Vigilance Matters
Case 1: Fake CNIC Issuance — Chakwal (July 8, 2026)
The FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad arrested three NADRA officials — Assistant Director Shahzad Muhammad Naseem, Senior Executive Raja Taimoor, and Intelligence Officer Sajid Mahmood — in connection with the alleged issuance of a fraudulent Pakistani CNIC to an Afghan national, Muhammad Amin, who is currently held at Adiala Jail with his post-arrest bail application rejected. The officials’ pre-arrest bail applications were also dismissed by the Special Judge Central Islamabad.
⚠️ What This Case Teaches Citizens
Fraudulent CNIC issuance is not just a theoretical risk — it is an active enforcement priority with real arrests in 2026. If your CNIC information has ever been misused to facilitate a similar registration, or if you suspect your identity details were used without consent, report it immediately to FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle or the nearest NADRA Regional Headquarters.
Case 2: Mass CNIC Suspicion Notices
NADRA’s Regional Headquarters issued notices to 1,152 suspected CNIC holders — 874 in Peshawar, 192 in Charsadda, 81 in Tank, 2 in Torghar, and 1 in Jhelum — instructing them to appear before the relevant NADRA board within two weeks with documents to verify their identity, with the list including individuals whose citizenship status, family records, or other personal information had raised concerns, and scrutiny extending to some suspected Afghan refugees. NADRA described this as part of ongoing efforts to “ensure transparency, accuracy, and integrity in the national identity database.”
🚨 If You Receive Such a Notice
Do not ignore it. Failure to appear within the stipulated period can result in your CNIC being blocked, followed by further legal action after detailed record examination. Appear before the NADRA board with all requested documents within the given timeframe — this is a legitimate government process, distinct from any phone/SMS scam claiming to represent NADRA (see the scam warnings below).
Case 3: The Viral “Data Leak” Claim — Officially False
NADRA publicly and firmly rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that citizen CNIC numbers, photographs, and biometric information had been breached and were being sold on the dark web. NADRA noted that the very post making the allegation admitted the claim was unsubstantiated. Investigations conducted in coordination with the National Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT) and the National Telecommunications and Information Security Board (NTISB) found no evidence of any system compromise. NADRA also stated that the sample images circulated alongside the claim did not match its official data-capture formats, and that near-identical unsubstantiated rumors also circulated in 2024.
📋 Why Third-Party “CNIC Database” Sites Persist Despite This
Even though NADRA’s own systems have not been breached, third-party websites and apps claiming to offer “CNIC lookup by number with photo” or “instant CNIC database check” continue to circulate. As with the SIM-lookup scams covered in our SIM owner details guide, these platforms typically rely on older, unrelated data breaches (from third-party services, not NADRA itself), fabricated results designed to look convincing, or outright credential-harvesting malware. NADRA has never authorized any public API for full-detail CNIC lookups by third parties.
CNIC Name Correction — Faster in 2026
NADRA introduced updated registration rules requiring district and regional identity boards to legally resolve CNIC name corrections within 30 days — a marked improvement in transparency and speed, reducing the mismatch issues that previously caused problems across CNIC, passport, and school-certificate records. Citizens can also proactively use a voluntary correction facility to fix identity record errors before they cause downstream complications.
Steps for CNIC Name Correction
- Visit your nearest NADRA Registration Center with your original CNIC/B-Form
- Bring supporting documents proving the correct name (birth certificate, educational documents, Nikah Nama where relevant)
- Submit a formal correction request at the counter
- Complete biometric verification to confirm identity
- Your case is now legally required to be resolved within 30 days by the identity board
- Collect your corrected CNIC once processing completes
Check Your SIM Owner Details — Free
Your CNIC controls every SIM registered in your name. Verify Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCOM & ONIC in 30 seconds.
CNIC and SIM Registration — The Critical Link
Your CNIC is the anchor identity for every SIM card registered in your name across all six Pakistani mobile networks. PTA’s 668 code (send your CNIC via SMS) returns the total count of SIMs registered on your CNIC across Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCOM, and ONIC. This is separate from NADRA’s own 7000 verification code, but both draw on the same underlying identity record.
| Service | Code | Operator | What It Returns |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNIC validity & name check | 7000 | NADRA | Name, father’s/husband’s name, validity |
| Application/tracking status | 8400 | NADRA | Progress of new CNIC/B-Form/FRC/CRC application |
| Voter record check | 8300 | Election Commission of Pakistan | Voter registration status |
| All SIMs on CNIC (all networks) | 668 | PTA | Per-operator SIM count |
| Owner of SIM in your phone | 667 (MNP) | PTA | Registered owner name, masked CNIC |
🚨 CNIC Compromise = SIM Fraud Risk
Because SIM registration is CNIC-anchored, a leaked or misused CNIC photocopy is one of the most common routes to unauthorized SIM registration — and from there, mobile-wallet fraud. If your CNIC information has been compromised, immediately check for unauthorized SIMs using our SIM owner details guide, and follow the steps below to protect your NADRA record.
CNIC-Related Scams to Watch For — 2026
Real fraud patterns actively affecting Pakistani citizens this year
Fake “NADRA Official” Calls
Callers claiming to be from NADRA say your CNIC is “flagged” or will be “blocked” unless you pay a fee or share your CNIC/OTP details immediately.
- NADRA never demands payment by phone
- Never share OTPs with anyone claiming to be NADRA staff
- Verify by calling NADRA’s real helpline: 051-111-786-100
“CNIC Lookup With Photo” Sites
Third-party sites claiming to show anyone’s CNIC photo, address, and family details from just a number. NADRA has confirmed no such public lookup exists.
- Real verification (7000) never returns a photo
- These sites harvest the CNIC numbers you enter
- Use only nadra.gov.pk, id.nadra.gov.pk, or the PakID app
Fake “NADRA Verification” APKs
Unofficial apps distributed via SMS/WhatsApp links, mimicking Pak Identity but designed to harvest CNIC numbers, photos, and device data.
- Only install Pak Identity from Google Play or App Store
- Never install APKs from SMS/WhatsApp links
- Check developer name matches “NADRA” officially
Photocopy Misuse for Fake Registrations
As demonstrated by the July 2026 Chakwal case, CNIC photocopies or compromised records can — in rare cases involving complicit officials — be used to facilitate fraudulent card issuance to unauthorized individuals.
- Write “FOR [SPECIFIC PURPOSE] ONLY” on any CNIC photocopy you share
- Delete CNIC photos from your phone/WhatsApp after use
- Report suspected misuse to FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle
NICOP, POC, CRC & FRC — Related Identity Documents
NADRA issues several identity documents beyond the standard CNIC, each governed by specific sections of the NADRA Ordinance, 2000:
| Document | Full Name | Who It’s For | Legal Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNIC | Computerized National Identity Card | Pakistani citizens 18+ | Sections 9 & 10, NADRA Ordinance 2000 |
| NICOP | National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis | Pakistani citizens residing abroad | Section 12, NADRA Ordinance 2000 |
| POC | Pakistan Origin Card | Foreign nationals of Pakistani origin | Section 11, NADRA Ordinance 2000 |
| CRC / Juvenile Card | Child Registration Certificate | Children under 18 | Rule 18, NADRA (NIC) Rules 2002 |
| FRC | Family Registration Certificate | Records family composition/family tree data | NADRA Ordinance 2000 |
All of these document types received updated formats under the February 2026 reform (SRO 330 & 331), including specific provisions for persons with disabilities and organ donors.
Verisys & Institutional CNIC Verification
For banks, telecom operators, and other institutions requiring bulk or API-based CNIC verification, NADRA operates Verisys — providing instant online verification of CNIC, NICOP, and POC numbers via web and API access. This is the same underlying system your bank or mobile operator uses when they verify your identity during account opening or SIM registration. In 2025, NADRA also launched the Nishan Pakistan Portal specifically to onboard institutions seeking these verification services in a more structured, auditable way.
